About
Raven Studio Tattoo Academy

Raven Studio Tattoo Academy was created as a structured educational tool for the tattoo industry. Its purpose is to support artists at every stage, those entering the trade, working professionals refining their skills, and tattoo shops seeking better-prepared artists to uphold safety, consistency, and professional standards. RSTA exists to strengthen the industry as a whole by providing clear education pathways, accountability, and a framework for lifelong growth in tattooing.
Our Mission
Raven Studio Tattoo Academy exists to elevate tattoo education through structure, safety, and mentorship. Tattooing is taught as a skilled trade, one that carries responsibility to both the artist and the client.

Our philosophy is simple: education should be intentional, transparent, and rooted in professional standards. Students are supported through clear progression, accountability, and respect for the craft.
Why Raven Studio Tattoo Academy Was Created
The tattoo industry has grown rapidly, but access to consistent, structured education has not kept pace. Many aspiring artists struggle to find legitimate entry points, while working artists often have limited opportunities to formally strengthen fundamentals or expand their skills. Tattoo shops are left navigating uneven training backgrounds, which can impact safety, consistency, and long-term success.
Raven Studio Tattoo Academy exists to address this gap. It provides a clear educational framework that supports the entire industry offering foundational training for new artists, skill development for experienced professionals, and a reliable preparation pathway for shops seeking better-trained artists. By establishing structure, accountability, and shared standards, RSTA helps create safer practices, stronger artists, and healthier studios.
"When education improves, the entire industry benefits."
Our Evolution
Raven Studio Tattoo Academy did not begin as a finished institution. Like many educational models in emerging trades, its development involved experimentation, learning, and necessary change.

An earlier apprenticeship-based program preceded RSTA and was created with the intention of expanding access to tattoo education in a respectful, supportive environment. While the intent was rooted in care for artists and the industry, the structure at the time was not sufficient to sustainably support growth at scale. As participation increased, it became clear that stronger systems, clearer oversight, and formal educational frameworks were required.
That program was discontinued.

The experience directly informed the creation of Raven Studio Tattoo Academy as it exists today — a licensed, structured, and accountable educational institution built with defined curriculum,
instructor support, clinical supervision, and transparent expectations. The lessons learned during that early phase shaped the standards, safeguards, and structure that now guide RSTA’s programs.

RSTA exists because growth demanded responsibility — and responsibility required rebuilding the system correctly.
Built to Support the Tattoo Industry
Raven Studio Tattoo Academy was created as a structured educational tool for the tattoo industry — not as a replacement for tradition, but as a support system for it.
The academy was designed to serve multiple needs across the industry:
• Aspiring tattoo artists seeking a legitimate path into a skilled trade
• Working artists looking to strengthen fundamentals or level up professionally
• Tattoo shops seeking better-prepared artists to fill chairs responsibly
• Artists at any stage who value structure, safety, and continued growth
Rather than serving one narrow audience, RSTA exists to strengthen the tattoo industry as a whole by providing consistent education, professional standards, and a clear framework for learning and development.
"When artists are better trained, shops are stronger, and clients are safer."
